De CSL werd in 2004 voor opgericht als opvolger van de Chinese Football Association A League. Er waren twee redenen om de CSL op te richten, men wilde het voetbal aantrekkelijker maken voor sponsoren en tegelijkertijd het niveau van het voetbal naar een hoger niveau tillen. De eerste jaren waren (vooral door de nodige schandalen) erg moeizaam, maar door schade en schande lijkt men eindelijk op de goede weg. Anno 2011 bestaat er een competitie waaraan 16 teams deelnemen.

Former China national coach Arie Haan, currently enjoying domestic success with Tianjin Teda, has put the boot into the country's culture of diving and indiscipline. The Dutchman produced impressive results while coach of China from 2002-04 but believes players in the country need to grow up and cut out the play-acting. "Players are all showmen in China," Haan told the China Daily. "The players cheat all of the time. They get one little push and they fall down. The referee blows the whistle and then they stand up. "In China I have seen people shouting at policemen, which is not done in Europe. I have seen the same thing in soccer. When the referee does something the players turn around and shout and abuse him. "The whole environment needs to change. The players have to change. They should accept a lot of things and not bicker with the referee. Play your game, focus on the game, that's very important and it makes it easier for the referee." China's players were feted as national heroes after the country qualified for the 2002 World Cup, although they failed to win a match or even score a goal at the finals. Players such as Sun Jihai and Li Tie moved to English Premier League clubs Manchester City and Everton respectively, helping put Chinese soccer on the map. However, that momentum was brought to a halt by several embarrassing match-fixing scandals and the subsequent generation of players have struggled to make an impact overseas. "The players going to Europe have to change a little bit of their character," said Haan, who led Tianjin to the runners-up spot in last season's Chinese Super League. "They have to believe they are really good, and still that's not enough -- they have to work, and they don't work enough. "Chinese players are easily satisfied, but you can never be satisfied in soccer," added the 62-year-old, still known for an outrageous 40-metre rocket against Italy at the 1978 World Cup. Midfielder Hao Junmin's failure to establish himself at Germany's Schalke 04 underlines Haan's point and the Dutchman bemoaned the lack of young talent coming through the ranks. China only has around 7,000 players under the age of 18 registered with the Chinese Football Association, according to the Chinese sports administrators. Japan, by comparison, has 500,000. Haan's China were controversially beaten 3-1 by Japan in the 2004 Asian Cup final in Beijing, where TV replays suggested two of Japan's goals should not have stood. Since then China have slipped off the radar in Asia. "Everybody is doubting soccer in China," Haan said. "You don't have stars and you really need people to inspire the kids like basketball star Yao Ming. "You don't have a player like him in soccer, and that's what you need to get more and more people interested in soccer."

Chinese tycoon Xu Jiayin seems to be following in the footsteps of Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich as he tries to build an "eastern Chelsea" after having injected millions of dollars into Chinese Super League (CSL) club Guangzhou Evergrande. "We set a target when we decided to take part in soccer; if we wanted to do something, we must be the best," Xu, chairman of Guangzhou Evergrande Real Estate Group, said. "The sales volume of our company has reached 50 billion yuan ($7.77 billion) this year, and it's our responsibility to use a portion of that income to develop Chinese soccer." The Cantonese club was relegated to China League One after a match-fixing scandal in 2010, but returned to the top flight by claiming the second-division championship at the end of that year. The 53-year-old Xu, who bought the side for 100 million yuan ($15.4 million) in March of 2010, has vowed to lead the team to the Super League title in its first season in the top tier and win the AFC Champions League in three to five years time. That's why he has splashed millions of dollars in the transfer market. After claiming several Chinese national players, including the versatile Zheng Zhi, striker Gao Lin and midfielder Zhang Linpeng, the club sealed expensive deals with foreign players and has repeatedly smashed the country's transfer record. It first signed Brazilian striker Muriqui with a record fee of $3.5 million last summer, and then finalized a four-year deal with Brazilian forward Cleo, whose transfer fee of 3.2 million euros ($4.5 million) set another Chinese league record. Earlier this month, the club again stunned its domestic counterparts by signing Argentina midfielder Dario Conca, who was named the best player of the Brasileiro in 2009 and 2010, at a cost of $10 million. Conca was offered a world-class salary of $7 million a year. The club's spending spree, however, has been criticized by some soccer luminaries. "There's always a team in the league which goes a little bit crazy," Tianjin Teda manager Arie Haan told China Daily at the beginning of this season. "They give them (foreign players) a lot of money, but what will happen if they don't have any more money?" asked the 62-year-old Dutchman, who guided his team to the round of 16 in the 2011 AFC Champions League. "Soccer is not only about today, and not only about this year. You need stable management and good vision for a strong, long-term future." Shenzhen Ruby manager Philippe Troussier described the Guangzhou team as like a castle built on the sand for its dependence on foreign players and its lack of youth reserves. "I saw many matches in the Super League, I think 60 or 70 or 80 percent (of the team's play) comes from the foreign players, that's not good for the development of Chinese players," said the 56-year-old Frenchman. "Chinese clubs don't care about youth development, and that's very dangerous for soccer in China, because when the owner decides to finish (his involvement) maybe the club will disperse." These negative responses are not emerging from thin air as Chelsea's huge investment has not reaped great returns since Abramovich took over in June 2003 and spent more than 100 million euros on new players. After winning back-to-back league championships under Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho in 2004-2005 and 2005-2006, Chelsea only managed one league title, in 2010, and only made the final of the UEFA Champions League once, in 2008, when it lost in a shootout to its domestic archrival Manchester United 6-5 in Moscow. Guangzhou is this year's championship favorite, having 40 points after 16 games of the 30-round top-flight league. That's nine points ahead of second-placed Beijing Guoan. Guangzhou's Tianhe Stadium also ranks as one of the two most popular homefields, alongside Beijing Workers' Stadium. "I will be surprised if Guangzhou fails to top the league this season," said Haan after his side lost to Guangzhou 1-0 in June. "The lineup of Guangzhou is so strong that any of their substitutes would be a star in other teams," Haan said. "I think they have spent a lot of money and they used the money in the right way." But Chelsea's story might be a lesson to learn from for Guangzhou - as winning the low-level domestic league might be a piece of cake for the Cantonese club this year, or even over the next few years. The good news is Guangzhou's team management seems to be in for the long haul. Liu Yongzhuo, chairman of the club, said Guangzhou will keep on investing in the team until it achieves its targets. "Our purpose of introducing foreign players is to lift the competitiveness of our team and reach our targets, which include winning the AFC Champions League within five years," Liu said. "We also want to claim the FIFA Club World Championship. If we can't win the titles, then we will continue to buy more foreign players who play at a high level." Meanwhile, Guangzhou is also reported to have made contact with Russia coach Guus Hiddink and Italian Marcello Lippi to prepare for next year's AFC Champions League. "You can get nothing in soccer if you don't make investments," Liu said. "A successful league should be comprised of different operational patterns. I think our pattern has inspired many domestic clubs and we have achieved our target to promote the development of Chinese soccer."

Geen jeugdopleidingen, geen scouting, geen goede trainingsfaciliteiten. Kortom, er wordt niet echt naar het probleem gekeken en enkel met geld gesmoten om op korte termijn succes te boeken. De goede bedoelingen vanuit de overheid schijnen er te zijn, maar de vraag is hoe lang het gaat duren om alles op poten te zetten.

De competitie begint meestal eind maart en loopt door tot halverwege of eind oktober, dus hij loopt helaas niet synchroon.

Overigens zijn er opvallend weinig Nederlanders met ervaring in het Chinese voetbal. De enige namen die ik me zo voor de geest kon halen waren:

Klopt, het imago van het Chinese voetbal is niet best na diverse gokschandalen. Mede daardoor heeft de CCTV in het begin van het seizoen geen wedstrijden uitgezonden en nemen vele Chinesen de nationale competitie totaal niet meer serieus. Een paar jaar geleden was er ook al een probleem, toen begon de competitie later omdat er geen sponsor meer wilde instappen na een eerder schandaal.

Na afloop van vorig seizoen heeft men een grote slag geslagen en zijn er vele spelers, officials van de voetbalbnd, scheidsrechters en gokkers zijn gearresteerd. Nu is het hopen dat het een tijdje goed gaat, dan kan er daadwerkelijk wat opgebouwd worden.

Evergrande is na alle investeringen uiteraard torenhoog favoriet. De club wist de laatste 7 wedstrijden eenvoudig te winnen en met Dario Conca is men er alleen maar sterker op geworden. Wanneer er maandag in Beijing gewonnen wordt staat men 12 punten voor op Guoan en lijkt de titel al zo goed als binnen.

Beijing zal ondanks het verschil in punten vol vertrouwen aan de wedstrijd beginnen, de club is nl. al 14 competitiewedstrijden op rij ongeslagen (7x gelijk, 7x winst). Tevens zal er hoop geput worden uit de heenwedstrijd, de wedstrijd in Guangzhou eindigde in 2-2.

In de VS heb je NHL, MLB, NBA, NFL, College football, basketball, ijshockey, nascar, Indycar en nog veel meer evenementen meer. Vaak ook in de zelfde steden als waar de MLS speelt

Een ander probleem is het welvaartsniveau. In China heerst er een stuk meer armoede dan in de Westerse wereld waardoor een groot deel van de jeugd al geen kans krijgt om op een serieuze manier (bijv. via scholen/ universities) een sport te beoefenen.

Voetbal is er al enorm populair (samen met basketbal de populairste sport onder jongeren), maar er heerst zeker bij het voetbal een kijkcultuur. Het voetbalaanbod op de TV is groot en er wordt ook veel naar gekeken, maar de meesten hebben misschien 2x in hun leven tegen een bal getrapt, ook als ze wel de mogelijkheid hebben gehad. Maar goed, dat zal vanzelf ook wel komen. Basketbal (wordt al sinds de jaren 80/ 90 van de vorige eeuw uitgezonden) was ook jarenlang een sport die vooral bekeken werd, maar tegenwoordig zie je genoeg basketbalveldjes in de steden waar op gespeeld wordt. Een echte topper, zoals Yao Ming was, kan echt om voorbeeld zijn om de sport ook daadwerkelijk te spelen ipv alleen wedstrijden via de tv te volgen.

Afrika loopt ook mijlenver achter bij de Westerse wereld, al hebben ze tegenwoordig aardig wat voetbalschooltjes. In Brazilie en Argentinie heb je vele (semi)profclubs die bijna allemaal een jeugdafdeling hebben. China heeft niks, helemaal niks. Weinig voetbalvelden, geen amateurclubs, geen jeugdopleidingen bij semi-(prof)clubs. Bovendien is het een stuk langer afgesloten geweest van de buitenwereld dan de meeste Afrikaanse landen.

Bovendien is voetbal in de meeste Afrikaanse, maar zeker Zuid-Amerikaanse landen, al jaren/ decennialang sport nr. 1. In China is het nog veel meer een nieuwe sport.

The two inked a letter of intent on cooperation Tuesday in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou after the Spanish team arrived in China on an exhibition tour. "We are building a close relationship with Guangzhou Evergrande," said Florentino Perez, president of Real Madrid. "We are working together to establish a football academy in China, which I think is the first step of our cooperation." Real Madrid are scheduled to play two friendlies during their week-long China visit, including one against Evergrande Wednesday night. Evergrande has been the focus of media in the Chinese Super League this season. It recently signed star Argentinian midfielder Dario Conca from Brazilian club Fluminense with a record transfer fee of 10 million U.S. dollars.

Xu revealed that the academy would admit more than 10,000 youngsters, forming the country's largest football school ever in history.

Voor zover ik weet komt het geld vooral vanuit het bedrijfsleven. Als de overheid zich ermee zou gaan bemoeien was er denk ik wel een betere infrastructuur geweest voor het voetbal. In China zijn er slechts 2.200 clubs en zijn er slechts zo'n geregistreerde spelers 710.000 spelers (ter vergelijking: In Nederland zijn er zo'n 4.850 clubs en ruim 1.100.000 geregistreerde spelers).

Juist omdat het voetbal zo afhankelijk is van het bedrijfsleven is de slechte reputatie van het Chinese voetbal dodelijk. De gokschandalen schrikt bedrijven af om het Chinese voetbal te sponsoren, een paar jaar geleden bijvoorbeeld is de competitie uitgesteld omdat er geen hoofdsponsor gevonden kon worden. Dit jaar trok de staatstv (CCTV) zich ook nog eens terug uit het voetbal na de zoveelste problemen, dit kost de clubs ook aardig wat inkomen.

Maar zoals gezegd is er vorig seizoen een grote slag geslagen. Scheidsrechters, officials en spelers zijn opgepakt en hierdoor is het vertrouwen in het voetbal weer een beetje gestegen. De verwachting is daarom dat de CCTV zich volgend seizoen wel weer gaat melden (mits er geen lijken uit de kast komen) en ook vanuit het bedrijfsleven komt er weer de nodige support, zie bijvoorbeeld onderstaand artikel van een maand geleden.

The real estate giant Dalian Wanda, which pulled out of Chinese soccer in protest against a corrupted game 11 years ago, came to the rescue of the embattled sport that has witnessed two former soccer chiefs behind the bars and the top league without title sponsor. Wanda's three-year deal with the Chinese Football Association (CFA), signed in the Beijing Institute of Technology on Sunday afternoon, covers the company's sponsorship of the Chinese Super League (CSL), Chinese youth league, and referee training and assessment. It also includes an overseas program for teenage players, or "Future Star Program", and the hiring of a world-class foreign coach for the Chinese national team. Wanda, whose team had set a 55-game unbeaten record and won the Chinese top league four times between 1994 and 1998, decided to withdraw from the Chinese league after controversially losing the 1998 CFA Cup semifinal to Liaoning. Two years later, Wanda sold its shares to Dalian Shide. Wanda president Wang Jianlin, who had vowed never to have anything to do with Chinese soccer, said that his passion for Chinese soccer had never died out. "My love for soccer is still burning," he said. Wang noted that the Chinese people love the "Beautiful Game" and they are eagerly expecting better performance by Chinese players. "I want to do something to help the Chinese people realize their dreams," he said. Wang said a top Chinese official had met him in person, encouraging him to return to Chinese soccer. Cai Zhenhua, a vice sports minister who oversees Chinese soccer, said at the signing ceremony that the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council "pay great attention to Chinese soccer" and it is a sacred responsibility to raise the level of the game in China. Wanda, whose assets are estimated at 140 billion yuan ($21.7 billion) through its ventures in commercial properties, luxury hotels, chain stores and tourism, became the title sponsor of the league in the name of "Dalian Wanda Plaza CSL" from this season to 2013. China's troubled Super League kicked off on April 1 without a title sponsor or a national TV deal, and with senior officials still facing trial over a corruption scandal. Former Chinese soccer chief Nan Yong was arrested in January 2010 along with other association officials after a cabinet-level investigation into bribery, match-fixing and illegal gambling in the sport. Also arrested and facing trial is Nan's predecessor Xie Yalong, and scores of other leading club and association officials and referees. The outspoken Wang had played an important role in Chinese soccer from 1994 to 1998, when he helped build Dalian Wanda into a powerhouse in the Jia-A League, China's top-tier league which evolved into the Chinese Super League in 2004. Wanda will also sponsor the Chinese national youth soccer league including groups of U19, U17, U15, U13 all in the name of "Dalian Wanda Plaza". The agreement also involves the "Future Star Program" that will send 20 young players every year to Spain, Portugal and the Netherlands. Wanda will invite FIFA trainers and launch workshops to train and evaluate Chinese referees. According to the agreement, the CFA will raise a referee's payment from 2,000 yuan to 10,000 yuan per game. Wanda has promised to sponsor a world-class coach for the Chinese national team with no less than 40 million yuan per year. Chinese players are virtually extinct in Europe!* Previously Hao Junmin was a national team regular, but this month he left the Bundesliga’s Schalke 04 to join the CSL’s Shandong Luneng. According to Chinese media, Hao was approached by England’s Arsenal, Liverpool, and Wigan, France’s Lyon, Russia’s Terek Grozny, China’s Hangzhou Greentown and his former club Tianjin Teda. He ultimately chose Shandong Luneng because he wants consistent playing time. He signed a three-year deal, and Shandong paid 1 100 000 Euros for his service. This transfer raised much outcry from the Chinese fans because Hao is considered one of China’s leading players. Hao’s passing skill is top-notch, and his free-kick prowess is his trademark. Hao was a household name at Tianjin TEDA. His skills were noticed by European scouts, and he was invited for a trial in Chelsea FC. Lately there was a media frenzy about an unknown Chinese player, named Bing Changbao, being chased by Brazilian top club Corinthians. Not much is known about the 22-year old striker. It was known that Bing lived in Brazil for six years, and he has good command of Portuguese. Smari has done an extensive research on Bing Changbao to provide our dear Wild East Football’s readers the most updated news about Chinese football. Bing Changbao is a striker who is known for his speed; his can dash 100 meters is 10.6 seconds. He is originated from Liaoning, and in 2005, when he was 16 year-old, Bing Changbao and thirty other young footballers went to Brazil for football training under Sun Xianlu, the coach. During the training, Bing realized training programs are all pre-arranged and designed from China. Bing is actually learning Chinese football instead of Brazilian football! He decided to voluntarily leave the team to continue his endeavour of learning Brazilian football. He has to pay his living cost and tuition, because Bing voluntarily left his original football program. In order to let Bing stay in Brazil, his mother sold her car and two properties. However, life got worst for Bing, because his visa to stay in Brazil has expired. He had to hide from police to avoid being deported. His situation has gone so bad to a point that he had trouble buying food. Much to Bing’s luck, it was mentioned that his situation has caught the attention of an anonymous Brazilian, who subsequently sponsored him. Bing later married a Brazilian girl, and this allowed him to be eligible for the Brazilian Green Card (which allows him to play in Brazil). José Antonio Camacho, retired Spanish footballer and coaching staff, has agreed to be the coach of China national football team and try to bring the Asian giant to the World Cup in Brazil in 2014. The agreement is only in the absence of signature, pending formal process to finalize their legal representatives to be completed in Beijing. Camacho would lead the team to against Spain if he finally put his signature on documents, and China hopes the Game to be held in Beijing on November 11th. It is reported that Camacho’s annual salary is at least 8 million U.S. dollars. He also demanded no less than two foreign assistants to join the team, so the total annual salary of coaching staff is likely to exceeded $ 10 million U.S. dollars. Camacho gained more than 80 caps with Spain, representing it in two FIFA World Cups and as many UEFA European Football Championships. He also managed the Spanish national football team during four years, taking it to the quarterfinals in the 2002 World Cup.

Jan Olde Riekerink zet zijn loopbaan voort in China. Het voormalig hoofd van de jeugdopleiding van Ajax, waar hij op 1 juli vertrok, ondertekende woensdag een 5-jarig contract bij de Chinese voetbalbond. Olde Riekerink krijgt de leiding over het Chinese jeugdvoetbal en ook gaat hij het olympische elftal coachen. „Ik ben trots dat ik deze baan krijg en heb er veel vertrouwen in. Ik zie er ook naar uit om te werken met José Antonio Camacho”, aldus Olde Riekerink over de Spanjaard, die zaterdag werd aangesteld als nieuwe bondscoach van China.

Er wordt geklaagd dat buitenlanders zwaarder worden gestraft dan Chinese spelers, zo zou Gao Lin (1 van de betere Chinese spelers in de competitie) na een tirade tegen zowel de grensrechter als scheidsrechter bewust niet bestraft zijn omdat Camacho hem de komende weken aan het werk wil zien.

Muriqui (1 van de topscorers en sterspelers van Guangzhou en vorig seizoen voor ca. $3.500.000,- overgekomen van Corinthians) wil de CSL verlaten. Hij heeft een brief openbaar gemaakt waarin hij zijn gevoelens uit. Volgens mij komt het er op neer dat hij zijn excuses aanbied voor zijn gedrag van afgelopen wedstrijden, dat iedereen bedankt voor de steun, hij het op prive-gebied goed naar zijn zin heeft in Guangzhou, hij het Chinese voetbal wil verlaten (te hard aangepakt (volgens medespelers vanwege zijn afkomst), het spel te weinig op techniek gebaseerd) na dit seizoen.

Momenteel is het 1 grote chaos bij Shanghai Shenhua:

- Duvier Riascos (gouden schoen winnaar CSL 2010 + topscorer CSL 2010) vertrok halverwege het seizoen
- Momenteel slechts 1 spits in de selectie, die de laatste weken ook nog eens kwakkelde met blessures
- Slechts 1 speler in de selectie heeft meer dan 1x gescoord dit seizoen
- Laatste 5 wedstrijden verloren, laatste 9 wedstrijden slechts 2 punten
- Club gaat zijn bekerwedstrijden in Ahui spelen
- Clubleiding overweegt om volgend seizoen alle wedstrijden in Anhui te spelen

De onrust is eigenlijk niets nieuws, want al sinds de overname van Zhu Jun zijn de supporters niet tevreden. Hij zit er puur uit ijdelheid, investeert amper na het vertrek van bepalende spelers en coaches, heeft een fusie er doorheen gedrukt en ga zo maar door. Dat supporters de laatste tijd regelmatig in opstand komen en laatst zelfs hun woede uitten bij de teambus is een logisch gevolg (waardoor de club overweegt naar Anhui, een stad met een veel mindere traditie op het gebied van voetbal, te verhuizen).


Ook pijnlijk voor de Shenhua fans
Vandaag was er de eerste hattrick van Chinese makelij in de CSL 2011, Dong Xuesheng scoorde 3x voor degradatiekandidaat Shenzhen (4-2 overwinning tegen de club uit zijn geboortestad, Dalian Shide). Extra pijnlijk, Xuesheng is een jeugdproduct van Shanghai Shenhua en werd vorige maand door die club verhuurt aan Shenzhen.

De meest productieve Chinees in de afgelopen maand was Gao Lin, in 4 van de afgelopen 5 wedstrijden wist hij te scoren. Het afgelopen seizoen speelde Lin voor... Jawel, Shanghai Shenhua.

Alle Chinese spelers van Shanghai kwamen samen tot slechts 4 doelpunten in de 21 CSL wedstrijden die er tot nu toe gespeeld zijn.


Er is nog wel enige reden tot optimisme, afgelopen week werd bekend dat eigenaar Zhu Jun overweegt de club te verkopen.

Arie Haan staat onder druk bij Tianjin Teda volgens de media. Vorig seizoen eindigde hij op een puike 2e plaats (beste prestatie van de club sinds 1998), dit jaat gaat het wat minder (2 verliespunten achter op de 3e plek, nog steeds een van de beste klasseringen in de laatste 20 jaar) en daarom twijfelt de club of Haan de juiste man is om de club vooruit te helpen.

Haan zou overigens niet de eerste ontslagen buitenlander zijn dit seizoen, al 6 clubs in de CSL hebben afscheid dit jaar afscheid genomen van een buitenlandse trainer.

Shenzhen Ruby heeft gister voor de 2e keer (2-1 overwinning op Jiangsu) op rij gewonnen en staat nu voor het eerst in tijden weer boven de degradatiestreep.

De fraaie 1-0 van Liu Chao (v.a. 30 seconden) was het 8000e doelpunt op het hoogste profniveau (profvoetbal werd ingevoerd in 1994) in China.

Weekje geen voetbal in de CSL, dus misschien aardig om te kijken naar de clubs die de beste kansen hebben op promotie naar de CSL.


Dalian Aerbin FC
Momenteel koploper in de League One met 9 verliespunten minder dan de huidige nummer 2. De Club werd in 2009 opgericht en mocht zodoende in 2010 deelnemen aan de League Two (3e niveau), waar men direct kampioen werd. Nu lijkt de club dus ook in het tweede jaar op profniveau kampioen te worden met promotie naar de Chinese Super League als beloning.

De club wordt geleid door voorzitter Li Ming (Chinees recordinternational, geboren in Dalian en 16 jaar actief voor Dalian Wanda (vandaag de dag Dalian Shide) en de Bulgaarse Manager Alexander Stankov.


Voordelen
Li Ming kent de klappen van de zweep van het Chinese voetbal, hij weet als geen ander hoe de voetbalwereld in elkaar steekt en zal hierdoor als geen ander in staat moeten zijn om een degelijke structuur neer te zetten waar de club jarenlang op kan voortborduren.

Mocht Dalian Shide FC degraderen dan heeft de Dalian alsnog een voetbalclub op het hoogste niveau.

Nadelen
Dalian kent al een CSL Club, namelijk Dalian Shide, eigenlijk dé voetbalclub van China. Het mag de laatste jaren dan wel minder gaan met Shide (dit jaar dreigt zelfs degradatie), het is nog altijd een club met veel meer support en een groter stadion dan Aerbin. Daarnaast is Dalian Shide 1 van de weinig clubs waar veel aandacht geschonken wordt aan de jeugdopleiding, veel jonge spelers krijgen dan ook een kans in het eerste elftal.

Dalian Aerbin maakte gebruik van het University Stadium, een oud stadion waar slechts 10.000 toeschouwers kunnen plaatsnemen.



Guangdong Sunray Cave FC
Opgericht in 2007 en zodoende ook een redelijk jonge club. Na een tweetal jaren in de League two speelt Sunray Cave FC nu voor het derde jaar op rij in de League One (2009: 5e, 2010: 11e). De club is in handen van het Guangdong Sports Bureau en de Sunray Cave Group en speelt haar wedstrijden in het Guangdong Provincial People's Stadium.


Voordelen
De club wordt geleid door louter Chinezen (van voorzitter to fysiotherapeuten).

De club heeft 2 eigenaren. Met name het Sports Bureau zal de continuiteit proberen te waarborgen.

Jonge, Chinese spelers die bij het kooplustige Guangzhou Evergrande buiten de boot vallen kunnen ervaring opdoen bij Sunray Cave FC.

Goede accomodatie in het centrum van Guangzhou.


Nadelen
De Sunray Cave Group FC is onderneming met multi-trade groep met exportactiviteiten over de gehele wereld. Het gevaar dreigt dat ook deze club vooral als visitekaartje gebruikt gaat worden, waardoor het bedrijf en niet de ontwikkeling van de voetbalclub centraal komt te staan.

Er zijn 2 andere welvarende en kooplustige clubs actief in Guangzhou, daarom is het niet ondenkbaar dat er na volgend seizoen 3 clubs uit Guangzhou in de CSL spelen. Voor de populariteit voor het voetbal zal een beetje spreiding natuurlijk beter zijn.



Guangzhou R&F Properties
Bizar verhaal, de laatste 12 maand kende de club 3 verschillende eigenaren en was de club in 3 verschillende steden gevestigd. Een jaar geleden stond de club nog te boek als Changsha Ginde. Toen de club vorig seizoen degradeerde werd de club overgenomen door het Amerikaanse MAZAMBA en verhuisde de club naar Shenzhen, waar het de eerste wedstrijden in de League One afwerkte. Na enkele maanden waren er al grote problemen, de club kwam in financiele problemen en kon het benodigde geld (salarissen, tickets naar uitwedstrijden, hotelovernachtingen, etc.) niet meer ophoesten. Spelers staakten en de club leek ter ziele te gaan, maar nog tijdens het lopende seizoen werd de club opgekocht door Guangzhou R&F Properties.


Voordelen
De eigenaren lijken financieel sterk genoeg om ook op de lange termijn aan de financiele verplichtingen te voldoen.

De club speelt haar wedstrijden in het fraaie Yuexiushan Stadion.


Nadelen
De eigenaar is kapitaalkracht, angst voor wederom een kopende in plaats van een opleidende club.


Er zijn al 2 clubs actief in Guangzhou, een beetje spreiding van clubs zou voor de landelijke populariteit van de CSL een betere situatie zijn.

De titel gaat naar Guangzhou, maar de degradatiestrijd is zeer spannend.

De afgelopen 2 wedstrijden van Shenzhen waren zeer belangrijk, er werd namelijk gespeeld tegen twee directe concurrenten. Echt tevreden zal mijn niet zijn, want uit bij Nanchang Bayi werd er met 1-0 verloren en tegen de Blades uit Chengdu (hekkensluiter) werd er slechts 2-2 gelijkgespeeld. Het had overigens nog veel erger kunnen zijn, want in Chengdu werd pas in de 3e minuut van de extra tijd de 2-2 gemaakt. Hierdoor blijft niet alleen het gat met Chengdu 5 punten (in plaats van 2), ook Nanchang Bayi (dat 1 punt meer heeft en op een veilige positie staat) blijft in het vizier.

De 2-2 voor Shenzhen werden overigens weer gemaakt door Dong Xuesheng, fraai afstandschot.

Goed en slecht nieuws voor Shenzhen Ruby. Op het veld draait het allemaal niet zo lekker en de club is verwikkeld in een hevige degradatiestrijd, maar het aantal toeschouwers was de laatste thuiswedstrijd hoger dan ooit. Ruim 24.000 toeschouwers zagen de club met 0-3 verliezen van Beijing Guoan. Normaal gesproken schommelt het gemiddelde toeschouwersaantal van Ruby rond de 10.000, eerder dit seizoen nog een stuk lager omdat er ivm met de renovatie van het oude stadion en de Universiade in buurstad Huizhou gespeeld moest worden.

De reden? Ongetwijfeld het hagelnieuwe Bamboo Stadium in het Bao'an District. Dit stadion werd speciaal voor de Universiade 2011 gebouwd en is nu dus de nieuwe thuisbasis van Shenzhen Ruby.

Access into the stadium can be gained from almost every direction and the structure fits snuggly in between another sports arena and a swimming pool. "The championship marks just a start," Gao said. "We want to keep our good form in the AFC Champions League next year and achieve a good result in the tournament." Guangzhou were relegated in 2009 for match fixing before a change of ownership in 2010 helped them storm to promotion last year. The ambitious club have spent big on their squad over the past 18 months including the record signing of Argentine Dario Conca, who is allegedly the fourth highest paid player in the world behind Samuel Eto'o, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Welke topper zullen ze gaan halen? Ze wilden Park het dubbele van zijn huidige contract bij Manu betalen. Park had echter geen trek in een transfer naar China, maar er is ongetwijfeld een speler die wel geïnteresseerd is in een vet contract.

CSL - Degradatiestrijd
Het lijkt erop dat de meest welvarende, modernste en de op de 3/ 4 na grootste stad met zo'n 4/5 fraaie stadions volgend jaar geen club meer op het hoogste niveau heeft. Shenzhen Ruby (de kampioen van 2004, de club met de duurste trainer en een gloednieuw stadion) staat met nog 2 wedstrijden op het programma 5 punten achterstand op de veilige 14e plek.

Ook de Chengdu Blades, in 2005 nog overgenomen door het Engelse Sheffield United, lijken te degraderen. in 2009 werden ze nog teruggezet na betrokkenheid bij een gokschandaal, in 2010 promoveerden ze onmiddelijk weer en nu in 2011 lijkt het doek dus alweer te vallen. Ook de Blades staan met nog 2 wedstrijden op het programma 5 punten achter op de veilige 14e plek.

CSL - Strijd CL-Tickets
Guangzhou en Beijing waren als nr. 1 & 2 al verzekerd van een ticket voor de Aziatische CL, daarachter zijn er nog 5 teams die strijden om de overige 2 tickets. Liaoning staat er veruit het beste voor, maar de bal blijft rond, zeker in China.

CSL - Nieuwkomers 2012
Dalian Aerbin is als kampioen in de League 1 als eerste verzekerd van promotie, volgend seizoen spelen er dus 2 clubs uit Dalian in de CSL. De club speelt overigens in het armetierige University Stadium met plek voor 'slechts' 10.000 toeschouwers. Overigens verwacht ik niet dat ze hier lang zullen spelen, in Mei volgend jaar is het nieuwe Stadion (Dalian Sports Centre) klaar. Dit stadion werd gebouwd voor de National Games in 2013 en zou de nieuwe thuisbasis van Dalian Shide worden, maar de verwachting is dat Aerbin tegen die tijd ook hier (of in het Jinzhou Stadion) zijn wedstrijden zal gaan spelen.

Guangzhou R&F is als nr. 2 ook al verzekerd van promotie. Wederom een speeltje van een rijke onderneming uit Guangzhou op het hoogste niveau. Deze club speelt haar wedstrijden in het fraaie Yuexiushan Stadion met enkel staplaatsen.

Het nieuwe stadion van Dalian Shide, naar verwachting klaar voor gebruik in Mei 2012. Capaciteit: 80.000 toeschouwers!
