Geschiedenis competitie
In 2006, the Superleague Greece replaced Alpha Ethniki as the highest Greek professional football league. Alpha Ethniki had held the position as the highest level of Greek football since 1959. Up to then, the highest league was the Panhellenic Championship, open only to the largest football associations of Athens, Piraeus, Thessaloniki and Patras. The title was contended between the champions of the aforementioned local associations in a play-off format.

In 1979, Alpha Ethniki, which had been an amateur and semi-amateur competition from its inception, turned professional.

[edit] StructureAt present, sixteen clubs compete in the Superleague, playing each other in a home and away series. At the end of the season, the bottom three clubs are relegated to Football League. In their place, the top three teams from Football League are promoted. The number of teams to be relegated may change, depending on a licensing procedure that takes place at the end of the regular season.

The Superleague is currently entitled to two entrants into the UEFA Champions League. The Superleague champion directly enters the group stage of the UEFA Champions League. The second through fifth place teams in the Superleague enter a play-off for the second Greek entry. The play-off winner enters the UEFA Champions League's third qualifying round, a two-legged tie from which the winner advances to the play offs of the UEFA Champions League. The winner of the Greek Cup automatically qualifies for the UEFA Europa League, as well as the runners-up of the Superleague play-off.

In the play-off for the UEFA Champions League, the teams play each other in a home and away round robin. However, they do not all start with 0 points. Instead, a weighting system applies to the teams' standing at the start of the play-off mini-league. The team finishing fifth in the Superleague will start the play off with 0 points. The fifth place team’s end of season tally of points is used to calculate the sum of the points that other teams will have. The point difference of each of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th team from the fifth place team is then divided by five(if the result is a decimal number it is then rounded to a full number, with .5 or more being rounded up) and the resulting number respectively for each team is the number of points with which they will start the mini-league.

Nou nee, de laatste andere kampioen in Schotland was Aberdeen in 1985, in Griekenland zijn daarna Larissa en AEK nog kampioen geworden, is dus iets minder erg, al is Olympiakos de laatste 15 jaar wel erg dominant.

Die titel van Larissa is trouwens erg merkwaardig, het is immers maar een kleine club, weet jij daar meer van Dagglala.

Ik ben alleen wel eens bij OFI Kreta - Panathinaikos geweest, zonder in het stadion te zitten overigens, je hebt gewoon appartementen met balkons die boven het stadion uitkomen en met perfect zicht op het veld.

Sfeertje op de tribune is vaak ongeevenaard in Griekenland

Dat is niet zo heel gek, dat gebeurt wel vaker. Vaak doen ze grote wedstrijden aan het begin, dit seizoen niet.
Maar de clubs waar waar ze de punten laten liggen... Kavala, Iraklis, Olympiakos Volou. Op zich geen hoogvliegers

Beetje op en af in de Alpha Ethniki tot aan de jaren 90.. Toen heel lang niet tot ze vorig seizoen kampioen werden in Beta Ethniki. Geloof zelfs teruggezet naar de laagste divisie na wat financieel gezeik.

Logo is bijna hetzelfde als van Olympiakos, toch hebben de clubs niets met elkaar te maken.

Wat begint PAOK kut zeg, als je zo vroeg tegen zulke tegenstanders al punten laat liggen gaat het een leuk seizoen worden.

Dat was toch Dušan Bajević? Toch opmerkelijk, hij was (in een eerdere periode) immers de laatste trainer die AEK kampioen gemaakt heeft. Destijds speelde de club ook nog een paar keer in de CL, ondermeer tegen Ajax en PSV.

De AEK supporters trokken hem zijn tweede periode al slecht omdat ie van AEK (1ste keer) naar Olympiakos ging en toen via PAOK (die moesten hem ook niet..) weer naar AEK ging.. Om ze vervolgens weer in de steek te laten en naar Olympiakos te gaan..
Dus toen ie nu voor de 3de keer kwam, zat het vanaf dag 1 al niet lekker.

De wedstrijd tegen de vaselineboys interesseert mij ongeveer net zoveel als Ajax - AZ..
Zeker na de nederlaag van vorige week... Seizoen is nu al een ramp.. Hopen op een klein Europees stuntje, de rest is gewoon kut.
Of we moeten 2x van Olympiakos winnen en Aris in eigen huis verslaan. Dan kan er wellicht een glimlachje van af.

PAOK Saloniki heeft zondag haar trainer Pavlos Dermitzakis ontslagen. De Griekse clubleiding is zwaar teleurgesteld in de prestaties die de oefenmeester in het nog prille seizoen met zijn team boekte. Assistent-trainer Makis Havos neemt tijdelijk het roer over.

Ondertussen gaat PAOK op zoek naar een nieuwe hoofdtrainer. Dermitzkas was pas enkele maanden in dienst bij de club uit Thessaloniki, maar kon weinig indruk maken. De 41-jarige coach werd met PAOK in het voorportaal van de Champions League uitgeschakeld door Ajax en in de nationale competitie staat het op een teleurstellende dertiende plaats.

Nadat we de hele wedstrijd beter zijn en maar op 1-0 stonden tegen AEK kregen die flikkers een penalty.. 1-1.. Minuut of wat later, rood voor AEK.
En toen de Vierinha in de laatste seconde van de blessuretijd. 2-1. BOEM!
